Many young innocent lives are being saved at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre. Last year, your Zakat made it possible to treat almost 75% of our patients for free. This year we need more than two billion rupees to help those who cannot afford to pay for their own treatment. While the revenue from the Hospital’s diagnostic services has always, and continues to be, utilised for our expansion projects, it is your Zakat that is the hope of life for our poor cancer patients. As to date the Hospital has spent over Rs. 9 billion (US $ 130 million) in providing state-of-the-art treatment facilities to patients from all over the country. We have embarked upon a number of expansion projects across Pakistan and need your support to continue with the mission now more than ever.

The Sponsor-a-Cancer Patient Campaign allows you to directly undertake the responsibility of treatment of poor cancer patients for whom the disease cancer is the ultimate symbol of hopelessness. You can participate in this campaign by sponsoring the treatment of cancer patients and help to make the difference between life and death. Sponsorship of New Projects – Lahore

In Pakistan it is expected that about 150,000 people are fall victim to cancer every year. SKMCH & RC being the only specialized cancer centre in the entire region with all the cancer diagnostic & therapeutic facilities under one roof, is constantly pressurized to meet the growing needs. However, our current capacity allows us to accept only a fraction of these patients. This clinical tower will not only double our patient capacity but also include a number of additional specialized units like a fully-equipped Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and custom made Pediatric Unit. By contributing in this venture you will enable us to extend state-of-the-art treatment facilities to more and more cancer patients. Sponsorship of New Projects – Karachi

In its effort to extend its services to other parts of the country the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust is opening a Diagnostic Centre in Karachi. This Rs. 170 million project will include state-of-the-art Diagnostic services, a Walk-in-Clinic to facilitate in the screening and early detection of cancer, a Chemotherapy Bay and a Pathology Collection Centre. Sponsorship of New Projects – Peshawar

Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust aims to develop a series of small hospitals in selected cities of Pakistan to be able to provide state-of-the-art cancer diagnostic and therapeutic facilities irrespective of the ability to pay. The award of land for a hospital in Peshawar to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust represents a unique opportunity for us to expand the footprint of the Hospital in a relatively low cost and speedy manner. The first of a series of hospitals will be in the provincial capital Peshawar. Initially, these will function principally as chemotherapy delivery units with a set of minimal but essential associated ancillary facilities. In the long-term, each facility will have the potential to be scaled up to a full cancer hospital. Sponsorship of New Equipment

In line with the mission statement, SKMCH & RC strives to remain at the cutting edge of technology to be able to provide the highest quality modern method of care to patients. The advent of PET-CT imaging has revolutionized the management of cancer and is, today, considered essential for the diagnosis and treatment of many forms of cancer. SKMCH&RC has installed Pakistan’s 1st PET CT Scanning System at the Hospital in Lahore on February 7, 2010. Now we aim to install another PET CT Scanner in Karachi to help bring state-of-the-art cancer diagnostic & therapeutic facilities as near to the people of Karachi as possible. The Hospital aims to acquire more medical equipment during this year and hence keep abreast with some of the best cancer centres of the world.

Since opening in 1994, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, has come to be recognized as one of the most credible charities in Pakistan. Currently, 75% of all cancer patients seen at the Hospital are receiving financial support.
